ORTO Frescoes: Wall Painting in One Day. No Artist Required.1. Historically, frescoes are images painted upon crude plaster of walls, arches and ceilings of buildings. Renowned artists created frescos to decorate palaces, cathedrals and other landmarks, and their magnificent works feast people’s eye for ages ever since. “ORTO” frescoes are printed upon flexible ornamental plaster. Once the fresco is glued upon the wall and the space around it is plastered – it looks monolithic with the wall, as if it has always been there. 2. Frescoes can be used for profound stylization, casting an impression of ancient times, antiquity, or Renaissance Age. This approach is often chosen in shops, clubs, hotels, restaurants to create a unique aura of the establishment, inciting a specific mood or evoking desired associations in a visitor. Frescoes are not only a festive and spectacular feature, but at the same time they have their own inner beauty. Without any additional complicated art-concepts, recondite design oddities, intricate furniture combinations, fresco looks good as it is, zestful on its own, filling the interior with integrity and distinctness. Frescoes are often used to decorate living rooms, study and reception rooms, bedrooms and kitchens. 3. There are about 600 frescoes in the ORTO catalogue. Among these are paintings of renowned artists of all times and schools, from classical to avant-garde, as well as sceneries, still-life, sculptures and Oriental art. Most of them are 90x120cm and 120x90cm in size, but can be fitted to custom requirements. 4. ORTO frescoes are resistant to direct sunbeam or moisture exposure, as well as to temperature differences. They can be safely installed in unheated premises, winter gardens and pools. 5. A fresco can be mounted on any surface: it will adopt the shape of the surface, be that a convex wall, a concave, an arch or a pillar. The image is cast upon highly elastic plaster and reinforced by supporting net – that’s why it can be bent in various directions without cracking or crashing. 6. Before attaching a fresco, the target surface must be cleared from old paints and delaminations and then primed. Installation is easy. First the fresco must be unrolled upon the floor and left to lie still for 1-2 hours. Then the fresco is glued upon the wall and rolled over with a surfacer or roller. Next the plaster is applied around the fresco. After the plaster has gotten dry, it must be coloured to match the wall. There is almost no dirt, dust or other debris after the work, so you can install frescoes in premises where the redecoration procedures are already finished.
